Hint 21 - Manage Security

Never assume that the organiser will watch over your belongings when leaving for the day. If you’re participating in a multiple-day event, you may need to leave your booth or table unattended overnight.

Make sure you know what security measures are in place and avoid leaving expensive electronics and merchandise behind each day if you don’t have to.

Hint 22 - Utility of Booth Space

Naturally you will need to pay a fee for the space you use at the exhibition. Most events offer a variety of booth sizes and locations. Know their cost and measure whether the size and position actually meet your demographic.

Keep in mind that if you attend a few shows run by the same organiser, it may be worthwhile to book all your spaces in advance - it could save you money and get you better position.

If you plan to use any appliances, equipment or devices, you will need electricity. Some venues may include it in the booth price while others add on a charge. Make sure you know how much power (amps) you need so you have enough power for all your appliances combined.

Internet access is a must for many businesses, especially those in the Tech industry. Make sure you know how much it will cost to access the venue’s internet connection or whether you are able to create a hot spot with your own wireless capability.

Hint 23 - Effective Graphics

Is your graphics simple enough to attract your demographic, is the message understood within 3 seconds by potential clients.

Test your graphics with passer-byes to see if you can improve on your messaging the next time around.

Hint 24 - Your Well-Being

Managing hotel stays or other accommodation services are critical if you and your staff are to arrive well rested and prepared to engage customers on the day.

Make sure you find accommodation that is comfortable and close to the venue. Create an estimate for your preferred travel method to reduce stress. This should include fuel for vehicles and/or airfare if you plan to fly.

Chances are good that the venue won’t supply three meals a day for you and your staff. Make sure you have a food plan in place.

The easiest approach is to go to local restaurants and eateries, although you can save some money by looking for hotel rooms with a kitchenette and nearby grocery store.

Don’t expect the exhibition organiser to do all the marketing for you. Get people talking about your appearance at the event by engaging in a pre-event marketing campaign.

Make sure your attire is comfortable and appropriate for your target audience.
